Services for Ann Joyce Burke Hukill, 71, of Frankfort, were held at Harrod
Brothers Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at 1 p.m., with Rev.
Alvin Cummins, Rev. Tim Jumpp and Rev. Bob Rodgers officiating. Burial
will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Woodford Co. She died Saturday,
August 2, 2008 following an illness.
Born August 24, 1936 in Franklin County, she was retired from Ky. State
Government. She was a member of Leestown Gospel Church. She is survived by
three nieces, Debbie Phillips, Dianna Barkley, both of Frankfort, and
Denise Rodgers, Winchester; a nephew, Chuck Dempsey, Frankfort; and
several great nieces and nephews. She was the widow of Harry Eugene
“Gene” Hukill and was the daughter of the late Charles and Dorothy
Marie Martin Burke. She was also preceded in death by her brother, David
Lee Burke and two sisters, Patti Dempsey and Linda Sims.
Pallbearers were Chuck Dempsey, Brandon Dempsey, Joey Phillips, Wendell
Rodgers, Justin Stanfield and Tim Phillips. Condolences may be shared via

Kuryloski
Services for Edith Mae Hellard Kuryloski, 74, of Frankfort, were held at
Harrod Brothers Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at 9:30 a.m.,
with Rev. Wallace Kent officiating. Burial followed at Sunset Memorial
Gardens, Woodford Co. She died Friday, August 1, 2008 at Frankfort
Regional Medical Center.
Born May 20, 1934 in Franklin County, she was a caregiver. She is survived
by three sons, Donald Taylor (Debbie), Henson, AL, Gary Taylor, Sulpher,
LA, and Timothy Taylor (Libby), Lawrenceburg; a daughter, Shelley Rogers
(Robert), Frankfort; a half-brother, Garnet Lee Preston Jr., Georgetown;
two sisters, Mary Hedden and Irene Tate, both of Frankfort; ten
grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was the daughter of the
late Frank Hellard and Eda Mae Johnson Preston. She was also preceded in
death by her daughter, Linda Mae McKenzie.
Pallbearers were Robert Rogers, Jacob Taylor, T.J. Taylor, Justin Taylor,
Daniel Doss, Eric Redmon, Archie Harrod and Johnny Harrod.

Orpha Higgs Butts
Memorial Services for Darlene “Leanny” Orpha Higgs Butts, 65, of
Frankfort, were held at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home on Monday, August 4,
2008 at 3 p.m., with the Rev. Tom Hall officiating.
She died peacefully at St. Joseph Hospice Care Center, Lexington,
following a long illness on Friday, August 1, 2008. Born October 28, 1942
in Mitchell, IN, she was retired from Fruit of the Loom.
She is survived by two sons, Thomas L. Miller and David Lee Austin (Dawn),
both of Frankfort; three daughters, C. J. Howard (Mike), Frankfort, Jodie
Constable (David), Lawrenceburg, and Susie Goode (Johnny), TX; two
step-daughters, Angela “Tammy” Michelle Campbell, MI and Kym Bradley
(Kurt), Reno, NV; two brothers, David Higgs, Frankfort, and Benjamin
Haskell Higgs, Versailles; two sisters, Shirley Baker (Tom) and Victoria
Gene Reed, both of Frankfort; twelve grandchildren, one great grandchild
and several nieces and nephews. She was the widow of Timothy Butts Sr. and
was the daughter of the late Haskil and Clala Burton Higgs. She was also
preceded in death by two sons, Barry A. Miller and David Allen Austin and
two brothers, Ray Frost and George Ray.

Stevenson
Services for Burton “Burt” Riley Stevenson, 70, of Frankfort, were
held at Harrod Brothers Memorial Chapel on Monday, August 4, 2008 at 11:00
a.m., with Dr. Timothy Murtaugh officiating. Burial followed at the
Frankfort Cemetery.
Born May 8, 1938 in Franklin County, Burt was owner and president for
forty-six years of Lyons Lumber Company Inc., Holmes Street and Lyons
Hardware Store, Brighton Park in Frankfort. He graduated from Frankfort
High School in 1956 and attended the University of Kentucky. He was a U.S.
Army veteran, a member of First Christian Church and the
Frankfort-Franklin County Chamber of Commerce and past member of the
Frankfort Rotary and Kiwanis Clubs.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Mary Ann (Ball) Stevenson;
two sons, Gregg Riley Stevenson and William Scott Stevenson, both of
Frankfort; three grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Burt was the son of the late Burton James “Steve” Stevenson and Vera
(Lyons) Stevenson of Frankfort. His grandparents were Greene R. and Bertha
(Lewis) Lyons of Frankfort who founded Lyons Lumber Company in 1909 as
well as the Southern Hotel.
Burt started working at Lyons Lumber at a young age and learned the values
of hard work, honesty and fair treatment that he practiced in his business
and personal life. His love of wood and building structures provided
enjoyment, achievement and reward for Burt. He was a very kind and loving
person who will be well remembered by his family, friends, employees and
business associates.
Pallbearers will be Brian Ball, Joey Breckel, Frank Goins, Franklin Goins,
Shannon McDaniel and Jesse Redmon. Honorary bearers will be Steve Ball,
Frank Byron, Edward Goins, Dr. Thomas Leonard and Pete McAllister.

Mae Sheets
Frankfort-Graveside Services for Dorothy Mae Sheets, 83, of Frankfort,
were held at Sunset Memorial Gardens on Monday, August 4, 2008 at 10 a.m.
with First Christian Church officiating. Mrs. Sheets died Thursday, July
31, 2008 at her residence following an illness.
Born August 21, 1924 she was the daughter of Nellie Sullivan Jones Ramey
and Raymond Jones and the granddaughter of Sarah and John J. Sullivan. She
was preceded in death by her beloved husband of sixty years, Roy Sheets
Jr. She is the mother of Gerald Brooke Sheets and Sharon Lee Sheets
Finley, and mother-in-law of Catherine Flowers Sheets. She is the devoted
grandmother of Kimberly Brooke Sheets Hatter, Brian Scott Sheets and
Jonathan David Finley. She is the great grandmother of Blake and Lauren,
son and daughter of Brian Sheets and the sister of Ramona Ramey and Leslie
Ramey. She is the sister in law of John and Regina Sheets, Jewel and
Douglas Rhody, and Mary Ramey. She is preceded in death by Ada and Thomas
Dempsey, Mary and Jack Clark, Eugene and Jean Sheets, Doris and Raymond
Bibble, Mable Lynn Post, Laura Belle Sheets and Roy L. and Ethel Sheets.
She is the aunt to many nieces and nephews.
She graduated in 1942 from Frankfort High School. She had a great passion
for learning and reading. She was a volunteer at the Paul Sawyer Library
for many years. Her sense of humor was always evident even in her final
days. She had an infectious smile that brought joy to others. She focused
her life around her family and enjoyed many vacations with family and
extended family at Myrtle Beach. After retirement from Sears, she and her
husband spent ten years traveling to Europe and to all 48 continental
states. She now joins her husband, Roy for eternity who preceded her in
death on March 26, 2003.
Pallbearers will be Gerald Sheets, John Sheets, Brian Sheets, Jonathan
Finely, Leslie Ramey, Dewayne Hatter, Brent Rhody, and Joseph Bibble.
Honorary bearer is Charles Dempsey.
